A Couple Of Days In Budapest

Hey guys!

So I don't usually share photo's on my blog with friends or more personal ones, but I thought it would be nice to do it for a change. I wanted to write a post about Budapest and thought it'll be cool to share with you guys and give you some travel info. This blog post is a collaboration with Holiday Gems. * The photo above is one of my favourite holiday photos. It's from when I visited "Hero Square" the proper name is Hesok Tere in Budapest.

Accommodation
I went to Budapest on 30th August for one of my best friends birthdays for 4 days. It was a nice excuse to go away for a couple of days with the girls! We stayed in the 7 seasons aparthotel and I highly recommend it! I found it on Booking.com when trying to find hotels that were central. Trust me this place is very central and has 24hr reception which most other places didn't have.

Szechenyi Baths
A main attraction in Budapest are the thermal spas! When we went it was quite a hot day, but whatever the weather you're looking to go outside in 26c water. They have one or two huge outside baths as well as lots of smaller ones inside the building. They also have spa partys at night on Saturdays also know as SPARTY .... lol

Tour Bus
We wanted to see the sights of the city (both the Buda and the Pest sides). The hop on/hop off tour bus cost around £12 and took us around the main areas such as the chain bridge, and Hero square. I think we would have got completely lost or walked for ages if we didn't do it. Although saying that we did actually learn our way around after going on the tour and realised such areas like the chain bridge were not nearly as far as we thought. It was basically walking distance! Whoops.

Ruin Pubs, Bar Crawl And Clubs
These pubs are a main thing in Budapest. So much so that when we asked lots of people where's the best place to go they all said Szimpla. When we got there it was a very different scene than expected. Very artistic looking with most of the bar looking like it was outside. The same can be said for the club we went to. Their nightlife has a very rustic feel. We went on a bar crawl which was totally worth it.

Beer, Beer And More Beer
The main drink seems to be beer! They love it there, so even if you don't like beer you'll prob end up drinking it.

Currency
I really loved Budapest but the currency took some getting used too!! The notes are in quite high numbers ( I had a few 10,000 notes) and simple 100 coin is probably worth like 50p or something silly. I worked out that 2000 Forint is around £6. So most meals would be around the 2000 mark and most drinks 1000.  If you're planning to travel there I wouldn't recommend taking Euro's, it's better
to use the Hungarian currency (Forint).

Nightlife Clothing
I brought a range of items to wear, but I noticed most people go quite casual. Not a dress or high heel in sight! In the summer I would say denim shorts and top and sandals are fine!

So yea I had a lovely time in Budapest, it's a great city break! Have you been there before? Where's your fave city break?
