Things To Remember When You Compare Yourself To Others...

Hey guys!!

So, I don't know about you, but I tend to compare myself to others ALOT. I mean to the extent that I make myself extremely unhappy inside. Usually I compare myself on the basis of looks or other peoples relationships. I have ok to low self esteem. I don't have the perfect body, in fact I'm quite unhappy with it right now! And not having that long healthy silky hair I dream to have, or that perfect skin before and after foundation does make me feel pretty ugly sometimes. But there are things to always remember when you compare yourself to others.

No one is perfect.

I can be pretty harsh on myself. My friend may be wearing an amazing dress, whilst I am wearing a safe outfit to conceal my muffin top. But guess what, I'm not my friend, there may be things that she hates about her body that I may not have. The girl next to me on the bus may have perfect skin, but she may have spent hours applying foundation and concealer whilst I used that time for beauty sleep. The people on the TV may have the perfect marriage and family, but that means the mum rarely has time to go out and spend it with friends.

I guess what I'm trying to say to all of you and ME, is that comparing yourself to someone else is never going to make yourself happy. If you're the opposite and comparing yourself to someone else to make you feel better (because you think you're better) then good for you **eyes staring face**. I have found a few quotes to help you find your way when you're feeling a little crap. Remember that everyone is unique, so it's always good to be a little different, and there's always the little things that can help to improve your life.. (like you know taking the stairs instead of the lift haha).  What you might find ugly, may be someone else's pretty.

  1. Such a fab, frank post full of heart and soul Laura! I love that you cover so many amazing, truthful topics as well as featuring so much blissful beauty on your gorgeous blog. I find it so hard not to have thoughts like "their blog is so much better than mine, so much more successful" or, "I'll never be that pretty" or "get a life like they have" etc, but have really tried to shelve that this past year, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but these quotes are so amazing and I'll deffo keep these in mind! :)

I think you've got such a bangin' bod, a beautiful spirit and the dreams and goals to get to the stars and back in this lifetime! I'm so happy you're thinking positive and key thoughts, and you make so many awesome points, no-one is perfect and all of these quotes are so on-point. I hope 2016 brings you all the happiness in the world, you deserve it babe <3

  6. I was actually speaking about this to my sister the other day. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses or flaws and perfections and what you might consider a flaw on yourself, someone else might think thats perfection. Theres no need to compare yourself to anyone else because we're all different individuals xx

  7. I found this post really inspiring :) As someone that constantly compares myself to others, I totally agree that it doesn't bring anything positive! Let's all work on what's great about OURSELVES!

  8. Loved this! I'm so guilty of being too harsh on myself to a point where it's unhealthy. I really ought to stop worrying what other people are thinking xx

  9. Comparing oneself to another, I find, has become a sort of a culture ingrained in the millennial generation. I'll admit that I feel it a lot of times and pretty detrimentally, too, but what's been pulling me out of the water are recurrent and grounding thoughts that comparing myself won't better myself at all.

    Very lovely post, Laura. <3

  19. I really try hard not to compare myself to others, but I find it difficult for myself because normally when I compare I think I'm not good enough and then it gets me down and then I'm in a bad mood. It's an unhealthy cycle. I'm trying to appreciate myself more and thing more positively! xx adaatude.com

  20. Such a lovely and inspiring post, it's something I need to remind myself often. One of my favourite quotes is that someone else's beauty is not the absence of your own. We are all important.
