The No Foundation Face

Bronzer: Body Shop Honey Bronze shade 3. Blusher: Body Shop. Highlighter: MAC Soft And Gentle

I have a slight, near unhealthy obsession with foundation. To cut the awkward sob story down- I had spots, I hated my skin, foundation made me feel prettier...
I have worn foundation to every "out of house" place for the last 5/6 years, and recently I have just thought f**k it, I'm not going to bother with foundation! To be honest I haven't ever found a foundation that I have perfectly liked AKA holy grail. There's always something wrong, either it goes patchy, it doesn't match my skin, it makes my skin looks oily, makes my skin look dry, oxidizes, or makes me look worse than I did without the foundation. And so I have been brave and done the smaller outings almost bare faced, and you know what, I survived!
I have been experimenting with other skin makeup products that could accentuate my skin and make it glow without the use of foundation! The best thing is not having the feeling of foundation of my skin it makes such a difference. The 3 keys things needed are bronzer, blusher and highlighter. As you can see from the photos above, I have 3 favourites.

I know this post can seem a bit vain and obsessed with makeup, but I'm sure some of you guys would understand the deeper meaning. Makeup is like a mask for me sometimes.
Do you brave leaving the house without makeup?

Love Laura xxx

  3. I know what you mean! I personally hate to leave the house without makeup on though I typically wear mineral foundation as opposed to anything heavy. When I want to go more barefaced I'll just use a BB cream or powder.

  4. I can completely relate. Foundation also always make me feel prettier. I haven't had the guts to really let go of it yet but I want to try. In fact, my foundation is almost dry - so I might not have a choice soon considering I am depressingly BROKE!! :(

This wasn't a vein post at all - well done for breaking out of your comfort zone xxx

  5. I totally relate. Sometimes I'm not sure whether foundation makes me look better or worse, but I'm used to it and it is a safety net and a comfort blanket. xxx

  6. I used to use foundation all the time and noticed it didn't really so much to boost my confidence outside the house ad I still knew the spots were there, so now I just use BB cream and even though it is still a lot more coverage that this makeup it isn't as heavy on my skin and definitely feels a lot better x

  9. Oh yay! Good for you for saying f*** it, sometimes we just need to feel that way and do what we want, especially when it comes to being ourselves and the issue of make-up. Was just talking to my bf Graham about blogs as he came upstairs just now as I'm catching up with my favourites, so I had your page up and was telling him how much I admire you, most of all for being frank about so many topics, including confidence, and honest about beauty and all the matters that come with it! He agreed with me when I said you were pretty damn awesome, so there ya go, two people who have never met you who think you're fab just the way you are! You definitely are beautiful inside and out so all the more reason to say F it and just go with the flow :) Believe me when I say this post is anything but vain, it's just another great example of you talking from your heart. Make-up is definitely a mask for me too. Lately I've got a bit lazy and when I'm not posing for photos I find it a bit of a chore to apply loads, so a few times I've gone out without any. Most of the time I definitely couldn't do without it <3
