"Dear Younger Self"

I was reading Gracie's blog today and she's written a blog post that's really inspiring and uplifting. We have all heard that story about the "ugly" or "fat "teenage girl that no one understands....

The picture on the left is me at school around 7 years ago. You can even tell by the way I'm standing that I'm really insecure. If I was to talk to that girl 7 years ago I would say...

"You may hate school now, you may think you're always going to be ugly, but guess what you'll find yourself. You may be taller than most of the guys in school, but guys will be growing very soon trust me. You may not be able to stand to look in the mirror because you hate the way you look, but one day you will stop by shop windows just to get a peek of yourself!! lol.
So you're dreading dealing with those bullies, but guess what you will never have to see them ever again after school. I hate to be evil, but their popularity doesn't last long afterwards. You'll actually want to laugh at some of their misfortunes you find out about, but don't use that to your advantage. As I said those people are a thing of a past and so is the way you feel. You will learn that it is personality that outshines the way people look. People will love your sense of humor and you for YOU"

It's actually quite sad to look back, sometimes the feeling do come back to me now. I guess I'm writing this post to show all of you reading this that your fate can change.  I really think you should all read Gracie's version, it was an emotional read.
I am happier than ever about myself. Yes I do suffer with anxiety, and I still do have low self esteem but I dealing with it better day by day. All of you are beautiful, I have learned nearly my whole life to not judge someone by the way they look (except if I don't find a guy attractive ;) )

I would love to see if any of you have advice for your younger self?

Love Laura

  4. What a moving and meaningful post Laura, one you should be very proud of too <3

I love what you have written to your younger self; it's a shame we can't go back and share our experiences and growth with that version of ourselves but maybe we need to go through this stuff to come out stronger.
That girl 7 years ago was beautiful then, but you are especially beautiful now, inside and out xo

There's a picture of me near my 18th birthday were I'm clutching some roses and I just am standing so awkwardly, and whenever I look at that picture I feel uneasy. I hated myself back then and could barely look in the mirror. Now I can look back and sometimes feel sad but mostly feel grateful to have moved on from that stage in life, and feel a little stronger for it <3

Keep doing what you're doing, you're amazing girl!

  5. Ah I love these posts! It's always nice to think about how you've changed but some parts of you are still your younger self.

My advice would be to worry less, A LOT less, focus on school and less about friends, and not to be too hard on myself, life does get better! xo

    1. ahh, yes I would tell myself all that aswell lol x
