Do US "little blogs" stand A chance?

As I've been blogging for a couple of months now, I believe I have gained a lot more experience and knowledge of the blogging world, duh Laura?
The thing is all the "big" or "well known" blogs seem to be people that have been blogging for a few years and so have gained more and more followers through those years....

But the down to the blog title question, could the little blogs become popular?
To be honest I think it's all down to the amount of effort you put into your blog, which includes things such as; A well thought out and clear blog design, the quality of your pictures, your networking, and how your personality shines through your posts (enjoy blogging and bringing more unique ideas).

Now if all those things are achieved I am thinking actually it's 75% yes 25% no

What do you think?
Is there any advice for the smaller blogs?

Love Laura xxx

I would like to point out that not everyone that blogs actually do it for followers!

  1. I think blogging is harder than it seems, because most of the people I knew when I started blogging have just given up. Whilst others only blog for followers and end up spam commenting. But I think everyone can become "popular" if they have great content and love blogging x

  2. I definitely think it's harder than a few years ago when blogging was relatively new and not so overcrowded but I agree that it's what you put into it that you get out of it. It's always nice to know that everyone started off somewhere and all the really successful bloggers out there worked their way up and have achieved so much. I know I was disillusioned at first when no one read my blog for a long while but with a few little changes and some networking I've met some lovely, loyal people and found it's not so lonely after all.

  3. It´s all about the end goal in my opinion. What do you want to get out of your blog? Is it just a hobby that you give up once the new big thing rolls around or is it a serious passion that might even turn into a career? Anything can happen, even for smaller blogs. You alone can decide how much effort you put into it and where you want to take it. Btw, the blogosphere is such a fast paced environment: one day your blog is big the next not so much...give it some time and you will see changes happen!

  4. It's a tricky one really, I guess the reason for those blogs reaching popularity is the time they've put into it - you learn new things, and better ways to improve your blog, especially over a few years!

But yeah, it completely depends on the effort that goes into them, and I think another thing that makes popular blogs so popular is that they stand out from the crowd. They have something unique and different about them, whereas every not-so-popular fashion blog is more or less very similar these days!

But you raise a good point, and I think I agree with your little percentage at the end. Definitely a thought-provoking post, but either way, if popularity isn' too important to you and you just blog for the enjoyment, it doesn't really matter :-)

  5. This is a really interesting point! I think it's really like most things; a lot of it is down to hard work and perseverance, passion to fuel that, and also a little bit of luck! The big blogs started out from nowhere too, which gives us smaller blogs hope! I think just carry on with whatever you're doing, be true to you and don't try and second guess what you think other people want, and if it works out it works out!

  7. Honey, my advice! hang out as much as possible, not just networking, but be social. It helps a lot too. I use my business card, I do not care if people check my page or not, but I think, as soon so many people will have it, they will talk about me ;)))) I growing up so fast through social working
